Alienware 17 Ssd Slots
I have an Alienware 17 R3 from 2016. Does anyone know if this PCI Express 3.0 X2 SSD will work in this system? The 2nd available M.2 NVMe Slot in the computer consists of a PCI Express 3.0 X2 Interface but I am not sure about anything else. If not does anyone know the fastest expansion SSD that can be put into an Alienware 17 R3 from 2016. There are two different types of screws, and I circled them with different colors.
Remove six screws (red) that securing the bottom cover to the laptop.
Loosen one screw (yellow). Insert a pick to pry up the bottom cover.
Under the bottom cover, you can get access to three M.2 SSD slots, two RAM slots, and a hard drive module.
From the picture you can see, Alienware 17 R4 comes with two M.2 2280 SSD slots (support SATA and PCIe SSD) and an M.2 2242 slot.

The Alienware 17 R4 comes with two 8GB DDR4 2667MHz RAMs. According to Dell website information, it supports up to 32GB RAM, so you can replace it with 16GB DDR4 2667MHz RAM respectively.
